About D-8 CCI

The D-8 Chamber of Commerce & Industry is the private-sector arm of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation. We unite nine national chambers to promote trade, investment, and business collaboration across a combined market of over 1.2 billion people and $4.7 trillion in GDP.

Economic Integration & Product Diversification

Support cooperation among business sectors in D-8 countries through diversifying commercial products to exchange among themselves to achieve economic integration and socio-economic development.

Industrial & Agricultural Development

Development of industrial and agricultural products in D-8 countries and promotion of quality and competitiveness concepts.

Multi-Sector Enhancement

Encourage enhancement of Trade, Service, Industry, SMEs, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Intra-Regional Tourism, and Handicrafts; promote collective self-reliance based on harnessing complementarities and establishing value/supply chains; propose mutually advantageous economic policies.

Investment & Joint Ventures

Make recommendations to safeguard economic and business interests of D-8 countries, promote investment opportunities and joint ventures among member countries.

About the Developing-8

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is a forum of developing countries with large Muslim populations. Established in 1997, D-8 aims to improve member states' position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at the international level, and improve the standard of living of people.

With a combined population of over 1.2 billion people and a combined GDP of $4.7 trillion, D-8 member countries represent significant economic potential and are committed to advancing South-South cooperation.

Key Milestones

1997: Foundation

D-8 was established on June 15, 1997, in Istanbul, Turkey, with the Istanbul Declaration, bringing together eight developing nations with large Muslim populations for economic cooperation.

2001: Expansion of Cooperation

Member countries expanded cooperation areas to include trade, agriculture, industry, and tourism, establishing working groups for each sector.

2026: Indonesia's Chairmanship

Indonesia assumes the D-8 Chairmanship with a focus on navigating global shifts and strengthening cooperation for shared prosperity.

Palestine & Solidarity

The D-8 Summit 2026 will feature a special session dedicated to expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and addressing the humanitarian situation in Palestine.

D-8 member countries reaffirm their commitment to supporting Palestine's right to self-determination and working towards a just and lasting peace in the region.
